A fluorescent lamp saves electricity

Fluorescent lamps today are widely used inThe lighting of offices and production facilities. After the appearance of small lamps with electronic ballasts, suitable for use in standard cartridges, they can be increasingly seen in the apartments. Such popularity is due to the long service life and the lower power consumption compared to traditional incandescent lamps. Average service life of the usual incandescent lamp is 1000 hours, at that

time as a luminescent will last 2-10 timeslonger, the power consumption for creating the same luminous flux is five times less. But in order for the fluorescent lamp to last longer, the time between on and off should be at least five minutes. Only if this condition is met, a long service life is guaranteed.

Previously used fluorescent lamps hadpredominantly blue spectrum, which is good when used in offices and institutions, but not suitable for creating a cozy home atmosphere. Modern technologies allowed to make devices with different temperature of light: warm (yellowish) white light, cold white, blue. When selecting lamps for this parameter, be guided by your own

comfort and preferences.

To the disadvantages of lighting devices of this typecan be attributed a high price: a fluorescent lamp has a value several times higher than an incandescent lamp, and products of well-known manufacturers, for example, General Electric or Philips, have even higher prices. Another disadvantage is the complexity of recycling. A fluorescent lamp that is out of order should be destroyed in special equipment, as it contains mercury vapor, and there is a possibility of poisoning by these pairs if it is damaged. Despite these shortcomings, they are becoming more popular: when using them, you can save up to 50-60% of the electricity that is spent on lighting.

Today, the stores offer a variety ofassortment of lamps of the most different types and designs. And besides chandeliers and general lighting, there are a lot of table lamps of daylight. They can be installed on a table, fastened with a clothespin or a clamp, can be on a flexible or mobile base, with which the light can be directed as comfortably as possible. Table lamps have a very different design and can easily be selected for any interior.

The use of fluorescent lamps is not limited to use in

industrial or household premises. They can illuminate greenhouses or highlight houseplants. To "re-illuminate" indoor plants, any fluorescent light can be used, which must be installed at a distance of at least 20 cm from the top sheet of the plant.

If artificial lighting will bethe only source of light, it is necessary to use special fluorescent lights for plants: in the spectrum of their radiation there are blue or red colors. Lamps with a predominant red spectrum stimulate the flowering of plants. When using instruments with predominantly blue light, plants grow intensively. In greenhouses, to achieve maximum effect, it is advisable to use lamps with both blue and red spectrum.
