Ballet art originated in the Renaissance inprincely palaces of Italy and during its existence repeatedly experienced crises. However, they managed to survive thanks to the emergence of talented choreographers who created new directions and performances that help attract viewers. One of such devotees of the national ballet was Yevgeny Panfilov. He became a propagandist of free dance in our country back in the late 70s of the last century and left behind a rich creative heritage.

Evgeny Alekseevich Panfilov was born inArkhangelsk region in 1955. After graduation, the future choreographer first entered a military high school, where he was to receive the profession of political worker, but at the age of 22 he decided to change his profession - he entered the State Institute of Arts and Culture in Perm. Later, he studied at the ballet department of GITIS, and also completed a course at the International School of Contemporary Choreography in North Carolina (USA).
As early as 1979, Panfilov created his firstamateur dance group, which quickly gained popularity among young residents of Perm. Later, in 1987, the choreographer presented the audience with the new professional dance theater "Experiment". The performances staged by the choreographer during this period brought him fame far beyond Perm, as they were distinguished by the novelty that the viewer long waited for, tired of endless variations on the topic of classics. In 1991 the ballet of Yevgeny Panfilov was created, which after 9 years was given the status of state. In subsequent years, the collective more than 10 times became the winner of the most prestigious theatrical awards, which is very rare when it comes to provincial collectives.
Panfilov's life was tragically interrupted at the age of46 years old, when he was killed in his apartment by an accidental acquaintance. A month before, the choreographer had managed to present his version of the ballet The Nutcracker, which critics called tragic, as it shows a world devoid of illusions and populated by gray malicious mice.
This dance group is considered todayone of the most famous of the provincial ballet troupes of our country. And this is not surprising, since he repeatedly and with great success represented Perm at many national theatrical competitions. Thus, in 2006 the Panfilov Ballet won the Golden Mask Award for the one-act ballet Cage for Parrots created by the founder of the troupe.
Shortly before his death, the choreographer stagedthe scene of the Berlin Theater "Tempodrom" ballet "Life is beautiful!". It was based on the music of the 7th Symphony by Dmitry Shostakovich and the works of Soviet songwriters from the 30-50's.
