You must go to a special settings window where you can change the settings for the folders. It is done this way: in the control panel, find the item "Folder Options". We are talking about how to open the hidden folders of Windows 7, well, in the case of XP you will need the "Folder Options" item. On this, the differences in the two systems end. There is a lot of interesting parameters and settings in the window that opens, you can learn more about them if you understand them yourself.

Let's continue. Now go to the "View" tab, almost at the bottom you should find a line called "Hidden files and folders". There are two options: either to display them, or not. Since our task at the moment is to open hidden folders, you should select the item "Display". After such manipulations, you can click "Apply", and then "Ok". Now everything is ready. After that, all the folders will be displayed, but the hidden ones will differ by a more transparent icon. You can in addition say that you have the option to independently set the option "Hidden" for folders or files. This is done very simply. You must select the desired folder, and then select the "Properties" item in the menu. You can set a check box in the opened window next to the option "Hidden", then click "Apply". After that, the operating system will ask if you want to apply this parameter only to this folder or to all nested ones. Here you choose how to proceed. Now click "OK", and everything will be ready.

However, sometimes, after we create the hidden folder, we need to translate it into the regular status. This is done in the same way as the folder is hidden. You should enter the context menu of the folder, select the line "Properties", and then remove the checkmark from the inscription "Hidden". It should be noted that this method can hardly be called good and suitable for hiding folders containing confidential information, since another user of the computer can open it in the same way as you. For such cases it is better to use specialized utilities that allow you to set a password for a folder that must be protected.
