Biathlete Svetlana Sleptsova, whose biographydescribed in our article, is the champion of the Olympic Games as part of the relay team of Russia and a three-time winner of the summer world championship. Biathlete Svetlana Sleptsova (photo athletes can be seen in the article) was born in July 1986 in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk. Her father served in aviation, and his mother worked as a doctor.
Svetlana from early childhood was attracted to sports, while the girl tried many kinds, from ballroom dancing to martial arts.
At the age of ten, Sleptsova first came tobiathlon section after the coach of the local CYSS visited the school in which she studied, and invited everyone to try themselves in this sport. Svetlana was very interested in the opportunity at this young age to handle weapons.
Several times the girl tried to throw biathlon, but the coaches, who saw in it a huge potential, did not let it happen every time.
Another problem related to densetraining schedule, has become a deterioration in academic performance. Young biathlete Svetlana Sleptsova graduated mediocre, but managed to enter the Ugra University in the sports and tourism department. Since at that time she often became a winner and a prize-winner of various national and international competitions, she was allowed to study on an individual schedule.
Under the guidance of the first coach Alexander Korchak, biathlete Svetlana Sleptsova trained hard, but, unfortunately, she did not achieve much success.
In 2000, the athlete began to prepare for thejunior competition under the guidance of another specialist - Mikhail Novikov. Within a year she won the All-Russian junior competition for the prize of A. Strepetov.
At the age of eighteen, Sleptsova took part for the first time in the U-19 world championship in the French Ot-Moriene. Its highest achievement was the fourth place in the relay race.
A year later at similar competitions in Kontiolahti she became the world champion in the individual race. In addition to this achievement, she added a bronze medal for the baton to her collection of awards.

In the 2006/07 season Sleptsova Svetlana - biathleteas part of the main Russian team at international competitions. For the first time at the World Cup stage, she went to the track in Slovenian Pokljuka, but showed not very good results there. On the second attempt Sleptsova managed to score the first scoring points in the pursuit race in Lahti. As a result, until the end of the competition Svetlana scored 45 points and took 55th place in the overall ranking.
The next season brought the Russian biathlonistworld sporting glory. At the second stage in Hochfilzen Sleptsova first hit the podium, taking second place in the relay race. In Pokljuka, she repeated this achievement.
Stage in Oberhof became for biathlete SvetlanaSleptic shiny. In addition to bronze in the relay race, she won the first prize in individual discipline - she became the second in the sprint. At the stage in Ruhpolding Svetlana again became the third in the relay race, and in the sprint race - the second (after the disqualification of Kaisy, Varis Sleptsova was given the first place).
After successful performances in Antholz sportswomanwas first announced for the World Cup. Here she also becomes a bronze medalist in the mixed relay. But the most enchanting for Sleptsova was the final stage in Holmenkollen, where she brilliantly won the sprint and the pursuit race.
In the next season Svetlana became the world championin the relay race. At the World Cup stages, she climbed six times on the podium, and in Hochfilzen took the highest step of the pedestal for victory in the sprint race.
Season 2009/10 was for the biathlete in the directsense of "gold." In addition to four victories and two podiums at the World Cup stages, Sleptsova, along with Bogaliy-Titovets, Zaitseva and Medvedtseva after the victory in the relay race, became the Olympic champions of Vancouver.
Two post-Olympic seasons Svetlana has spent quite successfully, several times getting on the podium of both command and individual disciplines.
Before the season 2012/13 biathlonist SvetlanaSleptsova had an operation on her knee, which is why she missed part of the training in the competition. Because of this, the athlete showed very poor results in two stages, and then did not practically perform until the end of this year and almost all of the following.

During the summer world championship in 2017 Svetlana Sleptsova performed just brilliant. But after winning the mixed relay and sprint, she announced the end of her sports career.
